Hello everyone! Can you believe the year is half
over? It seems like the year is flying by us and before we
know, it’ll be Christmas. That’s scary!
Speaking of Christmas, we are now booking our
dates for the Christmas season. This is my favorite time
of year and my favorite music. If you are interested in having
Southern Joy for your Christmas event, book now as the dates are
very limited. We also invite you to attend one of the events
that will be posted. We sing a lot of traditional music as well
as some new music and together they encourage you to keep the
Christ child in the center of your holiday.
Happy Birthday
to Joanna (and me). We both have our birthday in August.
Joanna and Carl took a cruise for her big day and you can help
me celebrate my day by coming op to Grove Hill to Chilton
Baptist Church. We will be there for Homecoming so come and
join us for a great day.
We are very excited about a couple of dates
coming up. October 4th is our Benefit Sing for
Good Shepherd Church. They are in need of expanding their
fellowship hall that also serves at the kitchen area for the
school. Joanna, Bill and I are committed to seeing that
renovation completed in a couple of years (or sooner) if we can
earn the funds. Please mark you calendar now to be with us for
this great night. We will have the McPhearson’s bringing
Bluegrass Gospel Music along with our southern sound. We have
Mr. Roy Brock bringing the Country gospel and maybe a surprise
or two. We are going to have a great night and ask you to join
us. We also ask you to pray about and bring your donation to
the fellowship hall fund with you that night. You’ll feel great
about being a part of making this dream a reality. The concert
will be at Good Shepherd Church on Plantation Road beginning at
6 PM. Snacks will be available.
The next event is the Sunday afternoon concert at
the Alabama Pecan Festival in Tillman’s Corner on
November 2nd This is the 20th year for
the Pecan Festival and something to be proud of in our area.
Check out their web site for the full details on the event
because it goes on for several days. We are a small part of the
last day with the afternoon dedicated to Gospel Music. We have
local groups and this year we’ll include the McPhearson’s with
their bluegrass music. This is a great family group with a
quality sound. We have had the pleasure of working with them a
couple of times but we’ve admired their talent each time we’ve
seen them. Come on out, the concert is free.
Please keep those who’s ministry involves travel
in your prayers. The fuel cost is causing many of us to
postpone or cancel travel plans. We all know how difficult it
is to make ends meet and there are limited ways to cut cost. So
far, I haven’t found a way to do that when paying for gas or
diesel fuel. So, those who travel in their ministries are
facing some hard decisions and need your prayers and words or
encouragement. If you know someone facing these tough times,
give them a call or drop a card to say “I am praying for you
that God will supply your needs”. You can’t imagine how
important that is.
I
will leave you with this thought,
Each day is a day that God has given us, and each moment of that
day is in His hands
We love and appreciate each and every one of
you, Debbie, Bill
and Joanna
